Overview
What you should know
A first assessment where sleep-disordered breathing is suspected.
Snoring on its own does not always need treatment. Together with daytime tiredness or observed pauses in breathing, it can point to obstructive sleep apnoea. The diagnosis comes from a sleep study; our job is the assessment and the route there.
Risk factors
Excess weight, narrow anatomy in the throat, alcohol or sleeping medication in the evening, and habitually sleeping on your back all raise the likelihood of sleep apnoea.
Costs
Here the indication decides: with a suspected diagnosis the assessment is covered by mandatory health insurance, as screening without any suspicion you pay for it yourself.
