Answered from the practice floor: from process and costs to specific complaints. With or without an appointment, you are welcome.
Appointments & process
Do I need an appointment?
Not necessarily. With or without an appointment, including over lunchtime. If you have an appointment, you are seen at the agreed time; without one, you are welcome during opening hours. Without a booking we admit patients up to 30 minutes before closing.
What should I bring?
Your health insurance card. Your vaccination record for vaccination or travel advice. A current medication list or the packaging, if you take medication. Previous findings, if you have them to hand.
How long does a visit take?
In many cases the visit is done in about half an hour. More involved concerns take correspondingly longer.
Costs & insurance
Who pays for any medication I need?
Prescribed medication is billed as usual through mandatory health insurance, provided your insurer's conditions are met. Details on your deductible and co-payment are in your insurance documents. aprioris does not dispense medication itself.
Are missed appointments charged?
An online booking is binding. Please cancel no later than 24 hours beforehand. For missed or late-cancelled appointments we charge CHF 49.
What does an assessment cost?
Services covered by mandatory health insurance are billed accordingly. Your deductible and co-payment apply, as in any medical practice. For services within our licence the usual tariffs apply.
Who pays for the preventive services?
You usually pay for preventive services yourself. Guide prices, subject to change: Travel and vaccination consultation, 45 minutes: CHF 120; Vaccination and vaccination status check, 30 minutes: CHF 80; Tick-borne encephalitis vaccination, per dose: CHF 49; Influenza vaccination: CHF 49, vaccine included; Single and catch-up vaccinations: CHF 49; Cardiovascular risk assessment: CHF 330. For the sleep apnoea assessment the indication decides: with a suspected diagnosis it is covered by mandatory health insurance, as screening without any suspicion you pay for it yourself.
Can I choose aprioris as an insurance model, for instance a GP or HMO model?
No. aprioris is not an alternative insurance model. Services covered by mandatory health insurance are billed accordingly. Your deductible and co-payment apply, as in any medical practice.
Treatment & suitability
How good is the quality of care?
The quality does not sit in a claim, it sits in the procedure. The nurses examine to a method that the physician team sets and keeps updating. Where a finding departs from the expected pattern, a physician joins the consultation directly and decides together with the nurse. Anyone who wishes can speak to the physician themselves. Every case is reviewed and signed off by a physician, either during your visit or shortly after. Structured, regular internal training is part of it. The approach has been validated over several years in live operation: thousands of treatments without a safety-relevant incident.
How is medical responsibility organised?
Registered nurses treat patients on site under physician oversight; medical responsibility always rests with a physician. The physician team sets the parameters, decides with the nurse whenever a finding departs from the pattern, and signs off every case.
What happens to my data?
Your health data is particularly sensitive; aprioris processes it under Swiss data protection law. As in any medical practice, the data serves your treatment and the medical record. With your consent the report goes to your GP practice in encrypted form. Details are in the privacy policy.
What can I expect during a visit?
First we listen to your concern, then comes the examination to a clear method, with simple investigations on site where needed. After that we discuss the findings and what happens next: whether we resolve your concern here, or whether a GP practice, a specialist or a further step makes sense.
Will I get a prescription?
Where the examination allows it, your concern is resolved on the first visit; all of it is medically accountable and validated. aprioris does not dispense medication itself. Prescription-only products are dispensed by a pharmacy.
What is aprioris the right address for?
For common, acute complaints of everyday life: a sore throat, bladder symptoms, a tick bite, a red eye, a cut, an insect sting, a fever, diarrhoea. These are typical reasons to come, not a closed list. What falls within scope in an individual case is decided by the physician team: it defines the conditions and the limits, and is brought into the consultation directly wherever a picture is unusual or not yet standardised.
What is aprioris not the right address for?
For children and young people under the age of 16; a paediatric practice is the right place for them. For acute, life-threatening symptoms; then call 144. And for ongoing, complex treatment that belongs in continuous care. In those cases we help you find the right place.
I am not sure whether my concern belongs here.
Then come. We will work it out with you. If the examination leads to a result that does not belong with us, we tell you and make sure you end up in the right place. Anything that needs specialist care, we refer on, prioritised by urgency and with a written report.
I am pregnant or already under treatment. Can I still come?
Yes. Please say so when you arrive, so that we can take it into account in the assessment. Some complaints need a different route during pregnancy; we will talk that through with you.
About aprioris
Is aprioris regulated?
Yes. aprioris is licensed as a medical practice; each location holds its own cantonal licence.
Why is aprioris needed?
There is a gap between the pharmacy and the doctor's practice. Someone with an acute, everyday complaint rarely needs a specialist, but often needs more than advice across a counter: an examination, an assessment and a clear answer about what makes sense next. That is the gap aprioris closes.
Who works in an aprioris practice?
On site you meet experienced registered nurses, in the role of specialists for primary medical care. Behind them works a team of physicians board-certified in general internal medicine. It is reachable during opening hours, joins the consultation where a finding departs from the pattern, and signs off every case. That the physician is not sitting in the room is something we say plainly: the presence is organised, not local.
Is aprioris a replacement for my GP practice?
No, deliberately not. aprioris is a complement for the acute individual case. Continuous care stays with your GP practice. With your consent the report goes there, so that your care holds together.
What is aprioris?
aprioris is a medical practice licensed by the canton for acute, everyday complaints. Registered nurses treat patients on site under physician oversight; medical responsibility always rests with a physician. aprioris treats common, acute complaints promptly and, where possible, conclusively, and closes the gap between the pharmacy and the doctor's practice; it replaces neither your GP practice nor emergency care. We treat patients from the age of 16.
Who stands behind aprioris?
aprioris is an independent, privately funded initiative. The aim is that people with common, acute complaints reach the right place quickly.
