Cardiovascular disease develops over years, often without symptoms. This assessment estimates your personal risk and shows which factors can be influenced.
Who it is for
- people with no known heart condition who want their risk assessed
- people with risk factors such as high blood pressure, raised blood lipids, smoking, excess weight or diabetes
- people with cardiovascular disease in the immediate family
What happens during the assessment
We take your history and your risk factors, measure the necessary values and calculate a risk estimate from them. We then discuss the result with you: what it means, what can be influenced, and whether further assessment makes sense. Every case is reviewed and signed off by a physician, either during your visit or shortly after.
What the assessment does not do
The result is a risk estimate, not a diagnosis. It does not rule out heart disease and does not replace a cardiological examination. Where the findings suggest it, we refer you on with a report.
One address for your concern
Book an appointment or come by during opening hours. And if you are unsure whether we are the right address: come anyway; we will work it out with you.
Anyone with acute symptoms, such as chest pain, breathlessness or palpitations, does not need a preventive assessment but an assessment now. If your symptoms are acute and life-threatening, call 144. aprioris is not an emergency department. Anyone already under treatment for a heart condition stays with their treating physician.
